Just to confirm that adding bluez-input sorted it out for me. I had done
this originally, but didn't do the bluetooth restart (in this case it
was working the next time I booted the machine).

Martin, I'm interested to know more about your thoughts on the change
from strtoul from strtoll. The function name indicates that it sets a
uint64, but would strtoll not set a signed 64-bit int? That was the
logic behind changing it to use strtoul, so I'm keen to know if I've

Ah OK, I was confused because you referred to the "sed -i
'255s/strtoll/strtoul/'" in my post (which as you say is not really
necessary) when I think you were talking about the "sed -i
'201s/strtoll/strtoul/'" which modified the 32-bit version of the call.
I now understand, thanks!

there a way to dump out the currently active X keyboard map? A before-

Have just installed the generic 2.6.27 kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/pub/next/2.6.27-rc3/hardy/ and a quick test

The difference seems to be that the Walkman is treated as an single

Well, no, in my case it wasn't a bug; it was a quirk of the way CPU
usage is reported. I would suggest you have a different issue, since DMA
was working fine for me as you can see from my hdparm output above.

I tested again using Kubuntu Hardy updated to the 2.6.27-rc3 kernel
mentioned above.
A 300GB Caviar SE PATA drive attached using a USB-IDE bridge cable gave
the following transfer speeds when copying files using Dolphin:
Async: 20MB/s
Sync: 2.4MB/s
There was a lot more head activity in sync mode

I have finally figured out what was causing the problem.
I had used KMyFirewall to set up iptables, and it seems that either the
default behaviour is to apply rules to loopback in addition to the
physical network interfaces, or I screwed up the configuration when I

This is still a problem under Kubuntu Feisty.
An external USB 2.0 hard disk formatted with Ext3 writes at about 600KB/s with

Just had the problem again after upgrading 20.10 to 21.04.

Issue appears to be related to display resolution. Grub was booting into
3840x2160 mode, with the resulting tiny, near-unreadable font. So I set
GFXMODE=800x600 and now - unexpectedly - kernel 5.2.0 is able to boot
without the memory errors.
Not sure why the high resolution causes an out-of-memory
A workaround, provided you don't require the source MAC address to be
correct for the executing machine:
nmap -sU -p 67 --script=dhcp-discover --script-args=randomize_mac=true
Depending on your use case, an alternative could be to use the broadcast
DHCP script:
nmap --script=broadcast-dhcp-disc
Btw, I actually see this issue on Raspbian Jessie, so not entirely
relevant to this Ubuntu package. Nmap info:

This issue seems to be due to a problem with the file /var/lib/apt-
xapian-index/cataloged_times.p -- perhaps it's an invalid value or some
file corruption that is resulting in the cPickle.load command failing to
deserialise the file.
In my case I simply renamed this file, re-ran the index process
Checking through the "bad" file, the line that caused the problem for me
was in this section:
sS'gobi-loader:i386'
p27470

For some reason, there was a forward slash instead of a decimal point.
In case it helps someone else, the following code was used to find the
bad value:
