icon onto it and it sets up a scheduled task), pre-populate it with the

The problem is that the current stable release of openjdk for hardy has
an "=" dependency on an obsolete version of tzdata. Java is, without
manual intervention, uninstallable on the flagship current release of
Ubuntu, and has been so now for two months.

The Alt-F2 "Run Application" dialog runs applications. However, it seems
to have a different notion of what the path is to my shells; more
specifically, it doesn't include ~/bin, which I have added to the path
in both .bash_profile and .bashrc.

As far as I can tell, gutsy just disabled DMA on the CD-ROMs on both my
bog-standard Dell desktop and my Thinkpad X40. This is not obscure
hardware, and yet I can't watch DVDs without jerking on a 3Ghz
processor.

This is really counter-intuitive. If you want to have rounded corners,

same, and square. It's caught me enough times now that I've switched to

This worked for me too, exactly following those steps.
Treo syncing was broken in Dapper, fixed in Edgy and now it's broken
again in Feisty :-( Not too impressive.
Is creating this "10-local.rules" file going to affect upgrades?

I'm hamstrung a bit because busybox doesn't seem to come with an editor.
According to bug 75681, something has very recently fixed in this area -
so if I could boot once, I could perhaps do an apt-get to find the
upgraded packages. But I can't boot even once!
My laptop is hosed. Pl
