using proposed install instructions under oneiric builds the package. It fails
when using npm from current oneiric repository with the following error:

Ok, I changed it (since 39000 line of a diff seemed a little bit hard) and
downloaded the 0.6.0-2 package from ubuntu and copied the changed files from
the debian 0.6.0-3 branch. After that I did the change and uploaded the branch.
I hope this is a little bit more straightforward.

libesd0-dev is listed as dependency in debian/control and installed correctly
under pbuilder. "esd_sample_play" is defined by esd.h, which is installed by
libesd0-dev. Technically, this should build correctly.

sorry for taking my time, but I had to install Oneiric on a SD-card due to a
lack of other test devices (I usually do everything in virtualbox).
I do not have any screen corruption on my laptop using a ATI Mobility Radeon

It seems to me to be a linker issue, since the compilation works without
a problem. I haven't looked into the other bugs, but I could fix this
one by changing the configure.ac and Makefile.am files to properly
include the build depends.
I will look further into the issue over the next few days.
