I keep trying to fix this without success. And I'm stuck with the same
message...
a quick look at this issue shows that the nvidia module is not being
loaded at all (in my setup: nvidia 8600GT):

Just use gedit to open this file /var/log/Xorg.0.log and search for
nvidia.
I managed to uninstall the nouveau xorg drivers, and now I'm using
vesa... but somehow nouveau is like a virus you can't get ride of. I
blacklisted the module but it's being loaded anyway by other modules, so
the nvidia d

I did it!!! finally!
As I was saying before. the graphic driver is not being used. When you see
unity it's because you are using nouveau. Then you try to install the binary
drivers, nouveau gets automatically removed, AND you can't start unity any more
unless you activate the experimental 3D
One last thing! I almost forgot:
BEFORE doing the above steps you have to:
*Open "Additional Drivers" and remove all the nvidia drivers and nouveau drivers
*Remove nouveau xorg drivers: sudo apt-get --purge remove
xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
AND here is ANOTHER POSSIBLE solution (you DON'T have

michael, you are right. Jockey is not showing the drivers as being in
use, my fix doesn't try to do that. I just pointed to a workaround to be
able to use nvidia drivers in systems that were not being able to load
the driver at all, where jockey was failing 100% to enable the driver.

ok, this is really easy to reproduce:
Open eight LibreOffice windows and one PCManFM window. Now try to close several
LibreOffice windows doing "Right click -> Close" in the lxpanel.
That's it. The panel freezes and you have to open a new terminal window
to close it and open a new instance.

I compiled and updated lxpanel to 0.5.8 in my box and the issue has been fixed.
Or at least I couldn't reproduce it anymore.
I had to install libgtk2.0-dev, libmenu-cache1-dev and intltool packages
in order to compile it, but it was worth the hassle.

Newer versions of the "click" package have dropped get_terminal_size
support. The latest version of platform io already imports it from
shutil. The issue here is that the platformio package installed from the
repositories is not compatible with the click version:

Having exactly the same problem. Running on x86 intrepid alpha 2 updated
as of 19th of July 2008. Can shutdown using gdm buttons or command-line,
though.

I have a similar problem, unencrypted and WEP work fine but WPA won't
