after I upgraded to unity-services 5.8.0-0ubuntu2. Sorry I can't be

With a functioning nautilus-folder-handler.desktop included in Precise's
nautilus, this is fixed. If you still have the symptoms, you probably
have old files in ~/.local/share/applications/ . Try cleaning that out,
and remaking the associations you need. I had to. :)

work can have this 'failed to lock error', but there's no bug evident
here. These are temporary problems, from running two package tools at
once, or a process not exiting, or at worst a temporary file needing to
be removed.
Sooo...since it was libwacom that turned out to need patching, I'm not
sure how to manage the other projects in this bug report.

I think we want to catch the exception with a try statement in
SoftwarePropertiesGtk.py, but I don't know yet where is the sensible
place to put it. The exception catching could be like this, using an

Totem hung on me while I was testing, but that seemed related to opening
a movie while another instance was running. I don't have time to go
after that one right now! But nothing bad appeared
I don't recall this indicator crashing in quite some time, so letting
this expire seems fine. Thanks.

I have continued to get this crash, periodically. I think the
circumstance that triggers it is, generally at least:
1. opening the app menus in the panel via keyboard shortcuts, then
2. hitting left-arrow to wrap around and access the indicator menus
Doing the above does not reproduce the crash
Hm, to clarity:
"The indicator-session opens, and often the menu stays stuck open for a
while."...as the panel crashes. That's how I first know the crash has
happened again
What I wanted to convey was that the rightmost indicator menu opens, and
