Well, my attempt to re-open this issue, bug 982767, was marked invalid. But, I had a brief email talk with Release Manager Kate Stewart, since she had reviewed this bug a year ago, in comment #2. To summarize, there may not be time left to really look into this before the imminent release. Things are nearly frozen. But hopefully these crashes can be addressed before long.
