On a quick look the first patch looks good to me! You don't need to
worry about POT files, these are generated automatically by a program
called "xml2pot" - is that what you used? Editing them manually is a bad
idea.

I agree, I think video card is an acceptable synonym for "graphics card"

This may be a problem with the interaction between ubuntu-docs and
mozilla-firefox-locale-all so I'm opening a task on those packages.

I don't think French can be criticised for not linking to the main page
- the English version doesn't even do it. But we should fix that by
making the logo link to the main page (bug 108083).

Translation templates exist for xubuntu-docs -

and translators are working on them. The bug is that the translations
haven't been imported into xubuntu-docs yet. I think that's valid -

The reason for this bug is that the translations for es and es_ES are
being done separately by the translator teams. There is nothing we can
do in ubuntu-docs to prevent this - you need to talk to the Spanish
translation teams and the Launchpad translation developers to understand
why this is

Daniel - when I closed the bug, I didn't mean that this isn't a problem
- it clearly is. It just isn't a problem that can be solved or is caused
by the ubuntu-docs package, because each time translations are imported,
the problem will come back. So I'm closing the task on that package
again.
