In Hardy with hardy-updates enabled, firefox has two menu entries, one
labelled "Firefox Web Browser" and the other labelled "Firefox 2 Web
Browser".
Fortunately, launching either of them opens Firefox 3 :)

I have to say I think the link in the "Need Help" section of the
download page is pretty clear (even if the grammar is rather suspect):

It seems that remote links to local files are not permitted for security
reasons in Firefox / Mozilla browsers. We can amend the links to point
at the online versions of the documents. I've committed a fix for that
to our repository, although it won't be transferred to help.u.c until
the next time
