In the older versions of Ubuntu, an incorrect UUID could be ignored with

I'm experiencing a similar problem on a brand new dell xps 13 with
16.04LTS. Sometimes when typing the focus jumps to the bottom left
corner near the trash icon. I've also noticed it jumping to other parts
of the screen, but perhaps that's due to the sensitivity of the

With my motherboard I can manage disks with MBR and GPT disks in UEFI
mode. If I install Ubuntu with MBR disks, the installation hangs on the
choice of the partitions. If I install Ubuntu on hard drives with GPT
and UEFI mode, there are no problems with the installation!

always end up with a message box that tells you to restart it with sudo
permissions (X is not root. You need to run with root priviliges Please use

This small fix to /usr/share/applications/nautilus.desktop seems to work:
