to properties, erasing the IP address and typing it in again doesn't do
it.

3. /etc/network/interfaces is correctly changed, but iwconfig and ifconfig show

I think the following line from your syslog:
Nov 10 22:55:28 main-menu[358]: (process:1330): FATAL: Module loop not
found.
means that your iso, though found, was never mounted. The kernel module
"loop" is required to do this mount.
Why it can't find this kernel module is a complete mystery to me
