BTRFS requires some features in newer kernels, thus isn't expected to
work with 2.6.24; further, this particular bug is with the BTRFS project
and not Ubuntu.
BTRFS was merged in 2.6.29-rc1 (mainline), thus will appear in Ubuntu
Jaunty 9.04, so it's a bit of a moot point anyway...

(ubuntu-server 8.04.2 hardy LTS x86-64).
Guys, we badly need to bury this hatchet - this appears to be the only
bug preventing LTS release being a solid fileserver.

I have found this BUG_ON doesn't occur with upstream 2.6.25, so finding
a point in the past (equivalent to the gutsy kernel, perhaps 2.6.24) and
git-bisecting is the best chance.

Many organisations need to run the LTS releases, to be able to deploy a
server/login/dev box and get good use from it for >24 months, rather
than track the upstream releases.
Thus, we do need to add this patch to the 8.04 LTS kernel, or let

optimal performance/operation, and achieving this through package
recommends tags is the right mechanism.

Re-testing this situation on jaunty alpha 6 in an enterprise environment
with a Microsoft DHCP server, it's still not addressed.
The situation is therefore, one of:
- NTP syncs to ntp.ubuntu.com and silently maintains a constant offset from
our local timeserver
- NTP tries to sync to ntp.ubuntu
BTRFS modules 0.17 require the mkfs in btrfs-tools 0.17. Better to
package btrfs-tools 0.18, since this is disk-compatible with BTRFS 0.17
and 0.18 [1].
BTRFS modules 0.18 may be backported as a standalone module, and for
support for 2.6.29 and later kernels, we may as well stick with btrfs-
tools

-client packages from Jonathan's PPA - the DHCP lease now has the 'ntp-

I've been experiencing this issue on a Thinkpad T400 (BIOS 2.07) running
x86-64 Jaunty 9.04 beta with 5300AGN/iwlagn card.
Since network manager monitors the interface list, removing and
inserting the iwlagn module gets the interface active, however,
restarting the networkmanager service also does
Angelinux: the PCI revision is actually the firmware version, of which
you have known-buggy version 1.2. I found behaviour moving to firmware
2.2 or newer to resolve these problems.
Your motherboard vendor has to supply you the updated firmware. If
you're unable to get it, let me know.

Logged into the gnome desktop with my homedir mounted from NFS,
gam_server is clocking up more and more processor time, and is the 3rd
highest cpu-time user (behind firefox and Xorg).

vpnc-0.4.0-3ubuntu1 on amd64. Building vpnc.c with -O0 does allow it to
correctly connect, so I'll look deeper into it.

The fix is to specify the table names.
This is already fixed upstream in a new glibc version, here's a patch to
fix the behaviour (use 'patch -l' to apply, but you may have to convert
spaces with tabs):

Just to state my reasoning for thinking it is a GDM bug:
gdm creates a file in /tmp/.gdm_socket, but /tmp has the sticky bit set,
meaning that anyone else can delete other people's files, not possible
without the sticky bit set.
