KMS (Kernel mode setiting) broken in ATI Radeon 7500 GPU, image scrolls
I think this is a duplicate of bug 510524. Can you please follow it to
see if it fixes your issue. As a first attempt, try updating plymouth
and then booting again. If that still doesn't work, try removing
plymouth for right now.
If you do find that this is the same issue, please mark this bug as

Since you are seeing the same thing with different hardware you should
probably open a new bug. Everyone else here who has seen the issue has
been able to solve it for them by disabling cdrom polling. Maybe you can
do some poking around to see what events are causing issues for you?

@shankao:
The 2.6.32-9 kernel is based on upstream 2.6.32.1. The -10 kernel is
based on upstream 2.6.32.2. Can you try out the upstream kernels? You
can find prebuilt kernel packages at:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.32.1/
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.32
Please test the upstream kernels to determine if the functionality broke
from upstream changes. The Karmic 2.6.31-19 kernel is based on 2.6.31.6
and the Lucid 2.6.32-12 kernel is based on 2.6.32.6. You can find
upstream kernel packages at:

There's 173 changes between the -9 and the -10 kernels. Are you able to
build and git bisect your way through a few ubuntu test kernels to
determine what change is giving you issues?
