I kinda narrowed it down. It seems as if I ( i have 4pci slots) remove
one of the three pci cards either my kworld high definition tuner,
avermedia stereo, or my audigy, it boots up fine. Even trying to force
pci and irq in bios does not allow ubuntu to boot. I recently
downloaded the release ca
the 2.6.24.12 kernel or what ever was the last kernel I been using. I
have a alpha cd that I use and dont bother loading the new kernel. It
is the last kernel I use on my pc but I cannot understand why I need to
have 2 pci cards instead of 3 out of 4 in my system to allow linux to
boot.

I just updated the ubuntu kernel with your update manager. My system
will not boot either. It stops after, "firmware upload complete" most
likely related to my high definition kworld pctv115 card. in
2.6.24-12-generic it boots up just fine and I cannot understand what is
