it may surely be a bug of the website, but as this other guy reports correctly
[1] unfortunately there are many websites that test the user-agent for a
correct visualization. I think the best choice for users in order to have a
"shiretoko" that "just works" should be to ship a firefox
probably due to some pulseaudio-xml stuff, anyway people aren't
reporting this anymore so i guess this should have been fixed (and
upstream version 1.6.1 is reccomended)

http://packages.debian.org/sid/emesene .If you could sync it in karmic, it
solves a bunch of bugs we found after releasing 1.5. also python-sexy

missing codecs.
Now to the issue: if a simple rename does the trick i guess there
should be no problem in having it since the codepaths are never (?)
executed.
Hence I don't think it is worth investigating this issue further but
since maverick uses 0.10.20-1ubuntu1 i guess you can close this bug. (i
don't think anyone will need this niche decoder in lucid btw).

VLC actually uses vdpau, or at least this is what it says. In order to enable
support just install the nvidia proprietary driver, vdpau* packages and in VLC
(codecs tab iirc) "enable GPU acceleration" or something like that. Restart VLC
and you'll see in debug it's loading and using vdpa

compiz branch did actually show a super-improvement with a vdpau HD channel
running in VLC, frames looked smooth opposed to current stock window manager.
(Half cpu for vlc, compiz cpu usage to 0).

i think the seen improvement could have been consequence of compiz
running without plugins (and Unity). The next hope is the regionalDamage

together with Luis Francis we found a nasty bug that affects the
current papyon HEAD (read: 0.5.5). In C you would get a nice linker
error, but in python you won't.
The bug consists in the method that handles QNGs from the server being
defined twice, and the 2nd one being the
error is: the switchboard is dead but we didn't get a notification for
that. it can be workarounded by enabling keepalives in preferences.
