Since Dapper, Ubuntu has removed the text from Firefox's toolbar to save
space on 800x600 resolution monitors (or so I once read).
I think to be consistent with the rest of GNOME (especially with System
> Preferences > Appearance > Interface
I don't think he was talking about a dpi scaling issue, he was talking
about the aesthetics of the Human theme in Firefox, especially to Mac OS
X's and Windows Vista's versions.
I wrote a bug on how Firefox needs to show text under the icons, as I
believe this is part of the 'aesthetics' issue:

I was attaching a file for an e-mail in gmail and all of a sudden
everything slowed to a crawl.
I was able to minimize Firefox and take a screenshot of conky. Conky
showed graphically that Firefox took over my 2GB of RAM and 1GB of swap.

So servers, presumably running with CLI and not GNOME or KDE should be
relatively unaffected by this, correct?
I've been using ext4 on my desktop (/, not /home) for quite some time
and have seen no problems. I like the performance boost it gives me and
would like to give it to my servers as well..
I still see this in Jaunty
