I see the same faulty behaviour in gnome-volume-control, meaning the "Toggle
audio recording from Capture" always is off (the state with the white X on red
ground on it) when opening the window.
I can't reproduce it right now, but it seemed like the state of that setting

I now also frequently see the "Launching KNotify" and another hidden
"window" saying something similar to "Starting graphical UI Server"
(only a rough translation, my installation is german, but from what I
can say from googling I guess this is the "kio_uiserver" application).

I didn't use this mentioned "Janitor"-Software.
And the fix suggested above (removing ~/.gconf) didn't work either.
With me, this started after an intrepid->jaunty update.

On Ubuntu 8.10, the same problem still occurs. Same stacktrace and all.
Unfortunately the abovementioned "apcupsd.conf" doesn't exist, not in the
mentioned directory, nor anywhere else.

This bug started to affect me after updating to maverick. It did so on
both my machines, when I'm mounting the same SAMBA shares on my NAS.
My shares are not mounted on startup. A while after I have clicked on
the initially existing drive symbol, I'm getting the error message
