There clearly is a difference between fonts being on the hard drive and usable by lilypond and the same fonts being installed so that they are also usable in other apps such as Lyx, Ooffice, scribus etc. They have not been installed, in this sense, on my system (Ubuntu 9.04, lilypond 2.12.1-0ubuntu
