I had this same trouble with using a high quality/heavy resampling codec
on a speed switching cpu. this messes up pulseaudio, made me drop it
alltogether.
try using a relaxer codec like speaks with a lower quality setting.
this did the trick for me.

Before you try to install or upgrade packages you should update your
package lists, the package manager downloads some lists with information
about version dependencies and a lot of other stuf.
This is probably the reason for the above 404 error, your package

I can say pretty certainly this is not about the module.
It has more to do with the version of network-manager and even more with the
tool you use for controlling it.

I can confirm the work around posted by supernaicol, after downgrading grub my
two waiting kernel updates finaly installed succesfully.
The bug seems to be with the update-grub script, or the calling of it from

management. Usualy the video chip is not the one signaling the backlight
off but the bios deals with powermanagement. This is the reason why
vbetool does work and DPMS from X.org doesn't, vbetool uses realmode but

Coming to think of it, perhaps this should be a HAL bug. As far as I
understand the HAL daemon is responsible for most of the power
management and in my opinion should be the one to deal with panel power
management too.
This is just my two cents, kick me if you don't agree.

So for some months now, every time there is a kernel update and I have
to reboot my system, fsck failes because my fstab lists UUID's and I
have to press Ctrl+D to continue booting. If I can contribute in any way

My system worked perfectly with Edgy and new Feisty up to the updates
recently including kernel 2.6.19 which required me to reboot. Edgy
changed my /etc/fstab to mount by UUID and now none of my non-root
partitions are found anymore.
Also I now noticed that fdisk -l reports /dev/sda, /dev/sdb, etc
In addition to my comment:
I pressed Ctrl+D and everything gets mounted and everything is fine. I
checked the UUID's with vol_id and they match with /etc/fstab.

I don't seem to have any problems since I'm running Karmic. I think most of
the troubles were with the frontend because the behavior changed with changing
frontends. The only thing I remember not being able to connect to a linksys
wifi-N router, but never had a close look at it.

Also without rhythmbox loaded I cannot get the pictures imported using
the standard Ubuntu GUI.
The work around to kill gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor and then use gphoto2
works for me.
