With the open radeon driver, I found a way to fix this problem.
If I modify the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT line in /etc/default/grub and
add "radeon.audio=1", the HDMI output is always visible in the list of
outputs.
my /etc/default/grub line now looks like this:

"Preemptible Kernel".
With a kernel compile with "Voluntary Kernel Preemption", wl compiles fine
through dkms.

I have the exact same problem but only as soon as I plug a USB Mouse...
My laptop boots fine or runs fine, as well as my ClickPad (I have a HP
Envy with this new type of touchpad) as long as I have my usb mouse
unplugged.
If I have my USB Mouse plugged in at boot or plug it afterwards,

The workaround for the moment is to remove the option to stop the
touchpad whole typing (somewhere in the mouse options... sorry I'm not
in front of my pc at the moment).
The other workaround is to kill the daemon as soon as it goes crazy :)
But these are no solutions, just workaround...
