The bug I have reported here above is not a duplicate of bug #353126.
That bug involves a freeze during the use of compiz. But I do not have
compiz, and never have. So this is the main point-- that for me, thi

Yes, you are right! The Visual Effects tab has three options: none,
normal, and extra. Mine was on "normal"-- I guess that is the default
setting in Ubuntu. So I've tried changing it to "none", and --
amazing!

And also, does this bug occur regardless of what graphics card is used?
I didn't notice the problem in Jaunty with my other computer. It was
only when I started using this computer, which has an NVIDIA graphic
Public bug reported:
In Jaunty, the image being sent to the remote desktop via either Vinagre

the server side, and not the remote side. Because, the remote computer

I have an HP Laserjet 1018, and after Jaunty's auto-install of the HP
driver, my printer would not print. So I tried changing the driver to HP
LaserJet 1018 hpijs, 3.9.2 as someone else did below, but my printer is
still not printing. And I know the printer works well, as it works fine

Please see the note I wrote just above. My HP Laserjet 1018 is not

ran hp-check in a terminal window, with resultant output showing the

Yes, my Jaunty was already up-to-date completely, according to the

It downloaded and installed the plugin, after which the following

You are correct-- my printer was not connected when I did the plug-in
download. So now I have connected it and turned it on, and given an
order to print. It gives a "device communication error". So it seems
that although "HPLIP has a facility to automatically upload the firmware

As soon as I did "sudo hp-firmware -i", the printer roared into action.
Here is the output from that command:

Yes, but what about the need to switch the printer driver to 'HP
LaserJet 1018 hpijs, 3.9.2', and then after that, the need to download
all those dependencies which I listed above? Is that the routine?

Public bug reported:
The Apple Macbook Pro 5,1 & 5,2 runs quite hot with Jaunty. This is the

When using Lohit Hindi font, the punctuation -- question mark,

Thank you for your inquiry, this problem indeed remains an issue. It is
more a characteristic of the Lohit font itself than of the Ubuntu
release. No all the Indian fonts are like that. Some of them have all
the characters in their own charactier map. In other ways, the Lohit
font is very good and
I will be replying regarding the two bugs mentioned, in a few days.
Things are extremely busy just now, so please kindly keep the bugs open
pending my reply-- I will test things as requested in probably 4-5 days,
and reply in full.
