Public bug reported: The Apple Macbook Pro 5,1 & 5,2 runs quite hot with Jaunty. This is the case with all the appropriate Mactel packages installed, and even when the computer is not under load. This report is not a duplicate of bug 262550, as that was with Intrepid and concerned a prior version of the MBP-- NOT with the 5th generation. The problem seems to be more pronounced with the latest i.e. 5th generation MBPs.
Here, "hot" means that the user interface becomes uncomfortably warm where the hands rest as well as around the keys themselves, and that the computer ultimately projects such heat as to make one's face and torso uncomfortable. Ubuntu runs quite well with the 5th generation MBP apart from this major issue-- once this heat problem gets solved, it will add a very significant model line--the MBP--to the repertoire of laptops in which Ubuntu runs well. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- MBP 5,1 & 5,2 runs hot in Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/415477 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
