My Epson rx520isn't recognize either.
I have just done a clean install of 9.10 64bit (I have tried on a 32bit as
well)and cannot get my Epson rx520 all-in-one to scan.
I have been using it in 9.04 and before all I had to do was to make sure that
libsane-extras & sane-utils were installed then it
Solved. Driver requires libpop0 version 1.7 or higher, 1.6 installed on 12.04
Solution remove dependancy of this lib.
Download "MX340_Linux_Package.tar" from european canon site
extract "cnijfilter-mx340series-3.30-1-i386-deb"
Open terminal and cd to "packages"
Now...
dpkg -x cnijfilte
P.S."ia32-libs"installed via synaptic package manager before
executing the above
