Hi,
This is on a fresh install of Karmic (9.10)... I haven't tried against
the pre-release Lucid. libgfortran3 is not installed; the error message
I gave is what comes out of apt when I try to install it.

Also can't install python-dev; I get this:
python-dev:
Depends: python (=2.6.4~rc1-0ubuntu1) but 2.6.4-0ubuntu1 is to be installed
Depends: python2.6-dev but it is not going to be installed
The only repository I have enabled is "Canonical-supported open source
(main)"

Never mind; I fixed both problems by manually activating the repository
"karmic-updates". I still think this is surprising behavior.

This is still happening with a fully patched version of Karmic (9.10).
When trying to connect to an ad-hoc network (with WPA2 hosted on a
Windows 7 machine), nm-applet exits with:
ERROR:applet.c:334:applet_menu_item_activate_helper_part2: assertion failed:
