Like erlguta, I find this very problematic for my personal use of Ubuntu
with my laptop. I understand that the work put in here is done by
volunteers, and that is the reason why I just have to keep a Vista
installation here and constantly boot to it for viewing media.

I am not sure what you consider a bug - the fact that you can't compile
AUFS without Apparmor in your config?
That is a choice that Ubuntu made. Apparmor changes the call parameters
