It seems this bug was a result of saying 'NO' to change to a modified
version of mountkernfs.sh during a dist-upgrade. Can you confirm this?

Marking the bug as Invalid because of it. Please reopen it if you feel
the issue is still not addressed. In any case, this bug should be
against 'initscripts' rather than the kernel.

If unfortunately it seems this bug is still an issue, can you confirm
this issue exists with the most recent Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 release -
