After doing some research I'm quite sure that this bug was introduced by [1] in
the 5.4.29 mainline kernel and the 5.4.0-22.26 ubuntu kernel.
The bug was already fixed by [2] in the 5.4.32 mainline kernel. At least that's
the case on my machine [3] and Heiner Kallweit also pointed in this directi
@Paolo, the test kernel does fix the problem for me.

I've just had exactly the same problem trying to make a fresh install from a
bootable USB created with Ubuntu 18.04 Startup Disk Creator tool.
The option I chose was a fresh install using an entire SSD disk and ZFS
filesystem.
After the crash I killed ubiquity and a desktop session was opened. I

And yay it works again, but not from the first time on 4.15.0-96. I had to
reboot it second time at safemode(without any applied changes in the menu )
and it sounded well.

When the system is clear installed Network Manager uses eap-ttls with mschapv2
login/password authentication and there are no problems, but when the system is

other than landscape, when I set my other monitor to portrait mode it
stops displaying and my other screen "zooms" in like others are
reporting. I have one 1440p and 4k, so the scaling issue also effects me
