I upgraded to Gutsy Beta from Feisty and experienced the same problem. I
noticed it significantly degrading application performance. OpenOffice
would slowly refresh it's interface when simply switching windows. The
same slow interface is experienced with Kaffeine and trying to watch
video in Kaffei

Yes, good catch. I had a local copy of cairo, I was using for
development ages ago. I've removed it now and update-manager works
without crashing. Bug 149082 is sorted also due to the same problem, so
both can be closed.

This bug has been resolved for me by removing an old version of cairo
libraries I had complied myself ages ago under Feisty and were stored in
/usr/local/lib. Again, see bug 149051.
Both these bugs can be closed but I don't know how to close a bug? Mark

Hm, there's a weird error that shows up when loading a page which
doesn't exist (such as http://www.jkljkljkl.com/). I don't know if it's

wxWidgets/wxPython 2.8.4.2 has been released and it is hoped that it can
make it into Gutsy. I spent a lot of time updating the debian/rules and
other control files to try to bring it more in line with standards and
also some of the changes have been done in the MOTU version

I am experiencing this problem in Gutsy also.
Is it possible that this can be fixed for release? I'd hate to have to
reinstall OEM vista instead.

gwaterfall lacks a .desktop file
In the compiz settings controller, change the "Dodge" effect to "None"
on focus, and your problem is solved.
I too found it disturbing, perhaps the default behaviour needs
reconsideration, as this is very distracting.
