I had exactly the same problem and I have a CD-ROM drive. (My computer
is an HP DV9000 laptop.) I decided to burn a CD and install from that
instead, and that worked. (I had been booting from an external hard
drive.) I suppose this doesn't help your situation though, but maybe
it'll be useful for p

deliberately attempt to corrupt my file system to duplicate this. If you
have any suggestions as to how I can test the issue on the new kernel
without putting my data at risk I'm happy to do so but the only way I
can think of is de

peripherals. My personal opinion is that these slow inits are longer
than expected and the boot sequence hasn't been coded for this

I was! Had to find the old disk with Mantic. I couldn't get anywhere
with Noble. Unseen by me NetworkManager had been removed and couldn't be
reinstalled due to these unmet dependencies. After a reboot I didn't
even have Ethernet, much less WiFi.

Many thanks for your replies. In the config the extension is defined as
"extension=zip.so". Reading Lena's first response I'm thinking that it
should just be "extension=zip", so if can add the ".so" on itself.

zip.so.so I can find is that in the PHP config it was trying to load
"extension=zip.so". I have removed the .so and it's still loading the
module zip. As the error went away when I built the file from scratch I
can't tell

that still uses the "noauto" option in /etc/fstab for NFS mounts.
I still get "internal error" sometimes when mounting from the command
line as superuser. One mount point usually goes through OK first time
whilst another usuall

back up, I use TCP rather than UDP and increase the window sizes. This
leaves me with the following options:

I have a good, fast machine, a Dell XPS M1330 (800MHz-2.4Ghz), and I've
seen this problem too with flash videos. The new default threshold is
too high. I find a value of 35 or lower is needed to properly scale the
CPU while playing back video.

I found a different workaround. I had this installed on my HTPC and can
only connect via SSH and VNC so I gave it this command
"sudo apt-get remove --purge compiz-core desktop-effects"
to remove compiz and desktop effects and then
"sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart"
to restart the x server.

The package you're looking for is, I think, linux-backports-
modules-2.6.27-7-generic (2.6.27-7.6), not linux-image-whatever. Since
I've installed that package (two or three resumes from suspend) I
haven't had any problems.

Afraid not - I've tried adding and removing all the widgets, but my
problem is that some of them take up more space than they need to - a
slightly dodgy illustration would be that the system tray is this big
|--|
but it takes up this much space on the panel
(Dodgy formatting but there you go. Sorry for double post)
