When a bug is set to fix released, it means that a update has been
released that fix this problem. All you have to do is to update your
computer. This bug is fixed in Hardy with libx86 (0.99-1.2ubuntu3). It

Sebastian Bacher : It does not matter if you start gdmsetup the first
time Hardy is booted, but it will always happen the first time gdmsetup
is launched in Hardy. This is not reproducible inside the LiveCD for me.
I reproduced this behavior today in Hardy beta 1, cleanly installed in
VirtualBox.
Thank you very much for these informations. I changed the title and
description to reflect the real problem. Since this bug is caused by
blacklisted vesafb by default, I'm not sure if it should be set as
invalid but I will let developers decide since they know this part
better than I.

The blinking cursor bug is a duplicate of bug 201591 and is caused by a
recent regression with latest ubuntu kernel and vesafb. However, before
I mark this bug as a duplicate, can you remove vga=795 from your
/boot/grub/menu.lst file and test if usplash works corre

Of course :) In fact, if your remove "vga=795" from your
/boot/grub/menu.lst, ubuntu won't load vesafb so you don't need to do
anything else (unless you modified /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-framebuffer
by yourself)
