Tried it out again. At first I printed a document from OpenOffice.org.
This worked ok. I then tried to print a document from Document Viewer
2.28.1. The printer's display said "Dokument wird gedruckt", but even
after more than 10 hours the printer produced no printout.

PS saw that hplip has apparently been installed by default.

Testing7.04-7.10-8.04-8.10-9.04-9.10-10.4 I observed a constant loss in
functionality as far as printing to a HP LaserJet 3380 is concerned.
>From 7.04-9.04 printing worked fine.
9.10 showed some akward behaviour: Printing from the default PDF vi
PS It works here if BEFORE printing with evince the document has been
printed with Okular.

Problem remains with Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha 2 with all of today's updates
(32-Bit).
Maybe someone could at least mark this "Importance: High". I think that
if an Ubuntu bug can ruin people's hardware this really should be

This bug is back. Just tested Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 2 64-Bit Live Desktop on
the above mentioned MacBook Pro rev. 3. After approx. ten minutes the
machine's case's temperature was so high I had to shut down the machine
and let it cool down.

Just tried this:
1. Switched off machine.
2. Disconnected AC power and removed the battery.
3. Pressed On/Off switch for 5 seconds.
4. Put in battery, re-connected AC power.
5. Pressed On/Off in order to restart machine.
This was recommended on

Also performed a PRAM reset by pressing Apple key + Alt + P + R when
starting up until the startup could be heard a second time - no effect.
