Any update on this request. We have more users reporting the issue on
Ubuntu 16.04 UEFI instalallation. As a workaround, we are installing as
Legacy mode.
No issue with 18.04 UEFI.

Come to think of it, try "Ubuntu on Wayland". It uses a slightly
different rendering method, avoiding the atomic modesetting that Xorg
uses. The error message looks like it might be related to that.

That kernel booted without problems or needs for workarounds.
I do however get terrible screen tearing with the latest kernel. I do
not know if it's a regression or known bug. I send an example attached

source code as Xorg. And the "Wayland" part is the same source code of
