The bug report is generated from a virtualbox guest, running virtualbox
5.2 with guest additions 5.2.1.
The same issue occurs in the exact same manner on a Sony Vaio Pro13
running regular UEFI boot into Ubuntu 17.10 as well, so it is not very
likely to be related to running in a virtual machine.

working.
I tried @kaihengfeng kernel (4.13.0-17) and the touchpad is not working.
Got back to the only one semi working kernel (4.14.0-041400rc7). :|

A possible workaround that worked for me is to use the packages from openafs
directly:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:openafs/stable
sudo apt-get update
as described in https://launchpad.net/~openafs/+archive/ubuntu/stable
This currently installs openafs version 1.6.21

S alone can of course not be bound to a shortcut.
A combo such as S + Alt however works fine, and this shortcut is not triggered
by Alt + §, which means that the double triggering is only one way. S triggers

I did and I can confirm bad RAM. Surprisingly, Ubuntu 17.10 seems
sensitive to the point that installation fails while latest Mint 18.2
installs without problems.

Not sure if this bug was introduced by the upgrade from 17.04 to 17.10, as I am
rarely using the terminal in maximized mode.
Issue can be reproduced - happens each time, even after a reboot.

Sorry for the troubles you are having, but indeed your logs show a lot
of "soft lockups" in the kernel, and all seem to be in the nvidia
module.
I'm going to change this bug as affecting nvidia, since I don't believe
it's samba specific.
