right now because while the ubuntuone syncdeamon is registering it's
files and deja-dup is doing it's backup the temperature still peaks at
85°( with external cooling!). So the issue still exists.

Ok, so now there's some progress but it still doesn't work right. Now
the kernel uncompresses ok but something still goes wrong when it should
be booted - it goes as far as "Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the
kernel." but nothing past that.

I did a an upgrade of 13.04 to 13.10. Dropbox ceased to work. Uinstalled and
installed the new package from the Software centre and it will not install.
Dropbox asks for sudo password and a a nautilus restart but no further GUI, so
not possible to logon or synch. The system is upto date. i belie

Christopher, I added the duplicate bug report as you wished. I marked it

I just gave it a try with a 10.04 live CD and there the X performance is
at the good level I can remember. In 11.10,12.04 and 14.04-20140108 the
performance is reproducably bad.

I have 2 IMAP accounts configured, and noticed that the CPU hogging /
hanging is definitely related to the number of messages in a mailbox. I
haven't found a lower bound that causes the issue, but mailboxes with
e.g. 2 or more messages of cronspam were definitely part of the
