Reinstalled with the daily live image from July 4th and I can reproduce
this issue. It seems to be another problem related to applications.menu
being renamed to gnome-applications.menu in the gnome-menus package. A
workaround is to:

On Ubuntu 11.04 i386 32bit, I am able to boot, but then after the Grub
menu, I get vertical lines and unreadable text.
I can get a normal text display by changing the video mode at the Grub
menu to TEXT.

a new CA and new keys and with them everything worked fine. But I
checked the expiration dates and they are in 2018 (my new certs aren't

I broke out xscope to see if I could see anything (not that I'm too familiar
with X protocol - it's been a while)
So I had another machine acting as a terminal to control xscope and ran gedit
--sync, I breakpointed on ChangeWindowAttribute and clicked the mouse on the
menu; when it hit the break
When I commented all the ->owner lines in function acer_proc_init the
module compiles and even works :-) Just have to restart the machine
after installation of this module.

Adding the application specific password does not solve the problem.
Next time you log in empathy can not connect, so you must go through the
process of getting a new password. Empathy seems to be the only piece of
software that I have this problem with.

I can access things in the top panel and the launcher, except BFB,
applications, and folders.
Also zeitgeist crashes within 15-20 seconds of getting to the desktop.
This is definitely still the case, as booting Natty as a Xen guest
causes it to fail to detect any block devices, and reverting back to
2.6.35 works around the issue. It seems that the answer is either to use
the -virtual kernel or to specify xen-platform-pci in the initramfs-
tools/modules file.

Could you please contact whoever is responsible for Ubuntu so they can
add more recent versions to Maverick and Natty? The current version for
Maverick is still 0.118, and that is more than 1 year old. Maverick
repository could be updated to v0.120 or (preferably) v0.121

This also occurrs on every installation, both i386 and amd64. If the
user does not select Xubuntu Session at first login, the user is given a
blank Ubuntu wallpaper and can not do anything. They must then go to a
tty and login, restart lightdm, login again, and choose a session.
