Found a fix on thinkwiki. System->Preferences->Sound, in the Default
Mixer Tracks section nothing was selected.
Selecting PCM fixed the problem. I guess the bug is that a sensible
default is not picked on install.

Installed apxs2 and it worked fine. Both 1.1.8 and 1.2.0 built
perfectly, I had to do some funny stuff with httpd.conf to get it to
complete the script (it needed an existing LoadModule statement, so I
added one), but it worked.

After reboot KDM refused to start.
I fixed the problem by running dselect from the commandline:
First select option 4 to fix any leftover configurations.
Then select option 3 to (re)install kdm, or any other package that still had to

I'm sorry for the delay in replying. Below is the status of my tests on Gusty
tribe 5 Desktop CD for AMD64.
I boot from the CD, start the Desktop envt, then I try Suspend:
- system shuts down cleanly, i.e. disks stop and lights go out,
- keyboard seems to be dead, i.e. no key presses will wak
My bad -- it seems my a shortcut was taken and the server was being
accessed locally. When accessed from an outside IP, it performed
perfectly.
So this is not a bug, simply a case of using apxs to build an apache 2
module when apxs2 should have been used.

Oops, excuse me, I've be reporting about another bug and I misread this

YES, THIS IS STILL AN ISSUE on my computer.
The system freezes just after grub when the "splash" boot option is
present. Symptoms are : I get a "no signal" message from my monitor and
the caps lock and scroll lock key

I experienced the exact symptoms described here: hibernation works in edgy,
doesn't work any more after upgrading to feisty.
These days, I didn't get around doing a clean new install of feisty -- and
hibernation works now, on the same computer it didn't work on yesterday.

Yep, did and it had finally crashed. Noticed that it first (after ca. 10
hours) had a blank screen but with monitor on, and after the night the
hdd had stopped writing new information and monitor was off. Compressed
with 7-zip (1.7MB against bzip2's 4.4MB).

it seems like NM hase srror and can't go back in normal state... to
reproduce this i tryed to connect AP two time. first time it asked a
password conectetd and _sort of_ swithced to wired network, second time
it connected and indicated "no signal" but didn't swiched to wire.

This is the procedure to create the appropriate scripts:
