It will take a while to repro (and I am sure I can) but I actually
found the reason. This is nothing to do with microdrive it is
all to do with 4GB capacity of it. Ubuntu in it's current
package needs more than 4GB. However if you run it
to install to any partition <= 4GB it will carry

Well, I'm no longer having this issue. It was a video problem as far as
X locking up. What I did to resolve this issue was to install the newest
ATI drivers. To resolve my CPU usage issue, I removed all the CPU
packages from kernel. The CPU usage has happened once since I've removed
those things fr

BTW: The progress-bar in the lower fram of the Mozilla firefox-window

I can confirm the same behavior for apache2. I installed apache2, mysql-

If I understood correctly... cdda uses the same PCM encoding as WAV, so
the conversion is just a matter of dropping the headers (if the wav is
44.1KHz, Stereo). If I'm right, I don't see a reason not to do this in

to IMAP mails, only to SMTP (and, perhaps POP3, which I don't use).
I could receive and move mails fine, but when sending it would just
pretend to send and there would be no error message.

I could not remotely log into X on Ubuntu with Cygwin until I shut down
the Windows XP firewall. I have not changed /etc/hosts in any way.
Suse works fine with the firewall in its normal state so it is clearly a
difference in the way Ubuntu sets up X that is causing the remote login

While it may be ubuntu triggering this bug, it is a bug in your router.
It should not crash, regardless of what ubuntu or any other operating
system sends to it. Check with the manufacturer's support to see if they
have made any updated firmware available for this model that may fix
this problem.
The hardware is an Apple Macbook Pro 15in Core Duo, running the 2.6.19
SMP preemptible kernel, with graphics using the ATI fglrx driver version

Yes, I can confirm this on Edgy. It's really a problem in the use of
Gnome widgets, instant apply and HIG. Typing something into the hour box
does not change it until you exit that box, and Close works as a cancel
where that change is not applied (but previous ones are I guess).

Also is "xorg-driver-ati + fgrlx" that you've tried both or that you're
using just fglrx? Fglrx has had such hanging problems with amd64, and
it's not related to the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver.

anything special apart from the file length (my test file has identical
length) that might give a hint where to dig?

just tried it with 0.2.5 and my external USB HDD: error still there.
to be more precise regarding the error:
in fact it just stops working when running fdisk, so the error may be there -
but since windows seemingly also fixes partition order I think the partitions
should be labeled in physical o
