I've now spoken to HP who explained that the backlighting level is
stored in memory seperately for the battery and AC states. So each one
needs to be set seperately. Whatever it's set to is then what it returns
to when next in that state.

I have this same problem. Every few seconds apt-index-watch runs and
uses a huge chunk of cpu. This causes problems like stuttering in movie
playback etc. This was not happening last week, so it's a new problem.
Hope a fix comes out before edgy release.

I've the same problem but I know that this happened after a connection
was established. Netapplet let me set up the key and save it. It request
a password for the "ring" which I don't know what is do with it.

This will probably be considered for Edgy +1. In the meantime, have you tried
getting your patches merged for Debian version which Ubuntu will eventually
sync?
You can make the review process easier by splitting one big patch which
adds features/fixes bugs to separate individual patches.
