Ubuntu verion:  Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, aka Dapper Drake
dhcdbd version info from synaptic:  1.10-0Ubuntu11.1
considered current and latest version by synaptic updated Oct 8, 2006.

This problem occurs when trying to authenticate with a wireless network.
The laptop is a Dell Latitude C400, with a Broadcom wireless chipset
running the BCM-43xx kernel module and updated wl_apsta.o drivers.
Nsidwrapper is fully commented out and is not loaded.  The card has
connected with intermittent success in the past, depending on what
driver/BCM combination was used.  Further investigation of my logs show
timeouts getting a dhcp assignment with a SoftMAC timeout for eth1.
