Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dhcdbd
Ubuntu verion: Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, aka Dapper Drake dhcdbd version info from synaptic: 1.10-0Ubuntu11.1 considered current and latest version by synaptic updated Oct 8, 2006. This problem occurs when trying to authenticate with a wireless network. The laptop is a Dell Latitude C400, with a Broadcom wireless chipset running the BCM-43xx kernel module and updated wl_apsta.o drivers. Nsidwrapper is fully commented out and is not loaded. The card has connected with intermittent success in the past, depending on what driver/BCM combination was used. Further investigation of my logs show timeouts getting a dhcp assignment with a SoftMAC timeout for eth1. Messages file points to dhcdbd, current version: Relevant DMESG: [17179650.788000] NET: Registered protocol family 10 [17179650.788000] lo: Disabled Privacy Extensions [17179650.788000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth1: link is not ready [17179650.788000] IPv6 over IPv4 tunneling driver [17179660.940000] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [17180572.712000] SoftMAC: Open Authentication completed with 00:11:50:f1:a8:1c [17180572.744000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth1: link becomes ready [17180573.044000] ieee80211_crypt: registered algorithm 'TKIP' [17180582.748000] eth1: no IPv6 routers present [17180623.080000] SoftMAC: Authentication timed out with 00:12:17:33:c4:7e [17180658.420000] eth1: no IPv6 routers present [17180720.020000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth0: link becomes ready [17180736.356000] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [17180921.764000] SoftMAC: Authentication timed out with 00:12:17:33:c4:7e #tail /var/log/messages Oct 8 12:27:20 localhost dhcdbd: message_handler: message handler not found under /com/redhat/dhcp/eth1 for sub-path eth1.dbus.get.reason Oct 8 12:27:20 localhost dhcdbd: dhco_input_option: Value -1 cannot be converted to type L Oct 8 12:27:20 localhost dhcdbd: dhco_parse_option_settings: bad option setting: old_dhcp_lease_time = -1 Oct 8 12:27:28 localhost kernel: [17180572.712000] SoftMAC: Open Authentication completed with 00:11:50:f1:a8:1c Oct 8 12:27:28 localhost kernel: [17180572.744000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth1: link becomes ready Oct 8 12:28:16 localhost dhcdbd: dhco_input_option: Value -1 cannot be converted to type L Oct 8 12:28:16 localhost dhcdbd: dhco_parse_option_settings: bad option setting: old_dhcp_lease_time = -1 Oct 8 12:28:19 localhost kernel: [17180623.080000] SoftMAC: Authentication timed out with 00:12:17:33:c4:7e ** Affects: dhcdbd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Description changed: Binary package hint: dhcdbd + Ubuntu verion: Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, aka Dapper Drake dhcdbd version info from synaptic: 1.10-0Ubuntu11.1 considered current and latest version by synaptic updated Oct 8, 2006.
