Also, when I try running System > Preferences > Font, I get the
following message after about 20 seconds:
"Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'.
Without the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take
effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or

I set the screen saver to blank and had the same problem, however I
ran apt-get update and it fixed it. No idea what package caused it but
apparently it is resolved.

4. Run 'nautilus /home' to confirm users have been created

When I rebooted I had to run sudo dmraid -ay manually to get the proper

I am using dapper, as stock an installation as I can manage. I'll

permissions of /proc/acpi/sony/brightness with "chmod 666
/proc/acpi/sony/brightness" so that every user can change brightness. This has

independant on the computer, so i'm 99% certain that beagle called it on
one CSV file on my HD while indexing, and then it crashed.

OK, I updated my dapper to edgy and it works now. It didn't work on the edgy
liveCD. maybe the liveCD was connected to that.
now Xv works, though it stops working if any other window overlays the video
and going to full screen leaves part of the video gray sometimes. but it mostly
