Gareth, this is a different issue. I *think* that users can only
shutdown/whatnot their computer if they are part of the 'adm' group -
I'm not sure. In any case, it's not a permission error because this was
present on a clean edgy installation, with me being the only user on the

I had opened a bug about this, bug 54717. Your fix works for me. I
edited 11_session_dialog.patch and changed all "CanHibernate" and
"CanSuspend" to "AllowedHibernate" and "AllowedSuspend". Now I get
"suspend" and "hibernate" options when logging out. Hibernate won't
work, but I suspect this is a d

I tried this twice before I realized what was happening and preallocated
partitions for Ubuntu. I used the Kubuntu 6.06.1 LiveCD for
installation. My partition setup on hda looks approximately like this
prior to starting custom partitioning.

When logging in and a previous session already exists for that user the
default option should be restore the previous session and not to start a
new one.
So if I should be able enter my password and then bash the enter key and
end up in a pre-existing session if there is one.
I found the same issue as Aldous D. PeƱaranda with a PCI card. The system would
come up with GDM, but not log in (just stop loading before the desktop comes
up, mouse pointer still movable).
Switching to a console and running top showed "iwlist" as taking over 90% CPU
power. (Pressing ctrl-alt-f
Just tried downgrading to the g-v-m from Dapper and it still doesn't
work, so the problem is probably elsewhere. Maybe hal or udev.

I had the iwlist 99% problem, which I "solved" by moving iwlist out of /sbin in
recovery mode, but I have since reinstalled and my system hangs when I click
"Configure" in the network settings tool. It works on the live CD, so I think
it is my -23-k7 kernel. My card is PCI and uses rt61 driver.
