Sorry, sloppy language, I have the same behaviour as you when playing
ogg theora files. The sound does stop as expected.
I seem to only have continuing sound with DVD, but I haven't tried VCD
and I think I've had this with mpeg files too, but I can't reproduce
that now.

1. plug in i-rocks 8 in 1 card reader IR-8110 using normal USB cable, fire up

When you can get past the login splash screen (as I frequently can) the
PC is very sluggish, whilst the sounds are doing the repeating effect.

With newest Dapper updates it works, now. Even with the new Novell Gnome menu
and some additional applets.
But sometimes it still doesn't work. Haven't found the reason why it works
sometimes and sometimes not. Will add a comment here when I find the reason.
