No, this bug isn't in update-grub, it's in the installer component that
generates the initial menu.lst. update-grub only looks at kernels in its
own installation.
Note that all the "(on /dev/blah)" entries are outside the "AUTOMAGIC
KERNELS LIST" section, so update-grub considers them to be manual

Nearly all packages that have some network/internet functionallity
(firefox, synaptic etc) fail DNS Lookups and similar tasks due to IPv6
not degracing on networks that do not support the IPv6 protocol.

Thanks for your report. Due to some reliability problems with GRUB and
XFS, you need to use a non-XFS root filesystem or create a non-XFS /boot
filesystem. The fact that the partitioner doesn't warn you about this
up-front is also bug 47848, and is fixe

same problem with ipw2915abg using knetworkmanager
it only works if iwconfig eth1 key restricted $wepkey

In the system tray in kde, when using it's visible/hidden icon feature,
to the right of the green arrow, a vertical line shows up. It shows up
on all desktops, with every color background, with and without

I guess that the original reporter really did mean "not needed", but it my
case, it causes a bug :)
I have just checked, it is still present after recreating my initramfs. The
problem is that it can not find my LVM volume by UUID.
The strange thing is that /etc/fstab has also been modified to use
I don't think that the XAANoOffscreenPixmaps option should be used as a
fix - it would be really nice if the Ubuntu devs would do what they can
to fix the problem in the driver itself. The problem still exists in
the Edgy Knot 1 livecd, and such a common series of cards shouldn't need
tweaks such
