I have a desktop system (AMD64 on an ABit AV8) which has an atheros chipset
(pci id 168c:0013) and it works completely reliably, the machine simply never
crashes.
However, I have just also acquited a Thinkpad x40 with the atheros chipset and
I have seen a few crashes where the whole system hung.

recording. On the first recording input selection is respected and the
correct input is used.

Thanks it now works. But it is subject to an annoying behavior that others have
observed. NetworkManager continuously disconnect and reconnects. Apparently the
way to get it fixed is stop NetworkManager from continuously scanning...
How does one do that?

the high timer resolution causes uneeded battery drain.
How does MIDI require 1000HZ? MIDI has been working in Linux a long
time, likely predating the time where the kernel worked with anything
except 100HZ.

boot partition on iMac, the installer crashes. Since there isn't a
working WLAN connection yet for the intel iMac, I haven't the syslog
available in here. But here's the output retyped from the "Installer

tool, it has no effect on the system and the changes aren't applied.

I have a EIDE/PATA hard drive, and every time I try to upgrade to
2.6.17-5, it won't boot, saying "error: /dev/hda3 does not exist". GRUB
can find it fine. I have a Dell Dimension 1100, and haven't changed
anything internally.

In Breezy, I was using the OSS driver cs4232, but it's gone in Dapper
and the few drivers I tried didn't seem to work.
Th chipset is Crystal 4237B, Sound Blaster Pro-compatible.
Inserting the ALSA drivers in isa/cs423x gives a 'no such device' error.

Binary package hint: libpoppler1-qt
libpoppler1-qt cannot be installed and this breaks all dependent
packages. I discovered this when I could not install kubuntu-desktop.
When I run
apt-get install libpoppler1-qt
it returns the following error:
