Just realized that force user = root is not a best idea because it produces
files with root's ownership and ordinary users cannot do anything about them -
force user should be the same as owner os shared directory.
Anyway, this does not seem to interest many people:-(.

Me too I have an ATI Mobility 7500 on a Compaw N800v.
Same behaviour, with CPUT temperature of 50°C and 71° C.

okay, yet it the update manager was by default pointed to all Breezy

- start console apps (less, man, python, ps, grep, ...)
- open new gnome-console windows & tabs
I wasn't able to
- start X apps (xterm)
- start gnome apps (gedit, gnometris, ...)
I made straces of gedi
I also disabled NTP now, to see if that changes anything the next time I
get the bug.

I can confirm this is not a gnome-systems-tools issue, as I encountered
it both in KDE and in GNOME. In fact in KDE it was more severe, as the
nameservers would reset every few hours, while in GNOME it improved to
once every reboot.
