This is in a range that is to expect with virtualbox4.1.x. Most of that
I have seen also in previous versions adn with different kernels and it
is not new. It is properly also in virtualbox4.1.2.
So I say the package is o.K and could be backportet to Ubuntu11.10

I have a new harddrive and a fresh install on it. I have also give VirtualBox a
run today with different guest:
WindowsXp,Debian testing, Debian6, Ubuntu12.04 alpha2.

O.K it was the harddrive.

When my system keeps stable the next days it was VirtualBox. In the
oppsosite case my harddrive is damadged.

I can not recommen to upload VirtualBox4.1.8 to backports for Ubuntu
11.10!
Just after my first attempt to install WindowsXP on it I get I/O errors in the
kernel log.
Just after that my sytem crashed and get corruptet in a way that I was not able
to restart it.

I am going to restart and make some guest installations. I will observe
the kern log for error entries.
