I can not recommen to upload VirtualBox4.1.8 to backports for Ubuntu 11.10!
Just after my first attempt to install WindowsXP on it I get I/O errors in the kernel log. Just after that my sytem crashed and get corruptet in a way that I was not able to restart it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have observed such behaviour on other OS. In moment I am not so sure if this is really related to Virtualbox or to my harddrive. I have made a fresh installation of Ubuntu 11.10 64bit and do not install Virtualbox in any version for now.
