- driver -> tried to launch settings/desktop-effects -> start -> crash

synaptic crashed on me as well when dist-upgrading to current feisty. It
was giving me an error message about the compiz upgrade failing due to
some files being overwritten. I clicked on "close", clicked "upgrade"
and synaptic crashed.
