I also had 4 crashes to text only screen in the first week after upgrading to
11.10. My machine is a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120, 1 Gig RAM. The machine was
stable with 11.04. Downgrading the desktop to Unity 2D appears to have cured
the problem.
Also Firefox crashed to desktop several times per
