Ah, I think this bug is of my own making and is invalid. I think
suppress-logout-restart-shutdown used to have a subtly different meaning in
that it disabled the 60 second delay on shutdown and I had set it for that
reason. I see now that it worked by disabling the dialog. The two machines I

you add a .xsession-errors from a session having the issue? Could you
run "gsettings get com.canonical.indicator.session suppress-logout-
restart-shutdown" and copy the value there?

On further investigation I think that the Unity-2D issue is not related
to this problem and that this problem applies equally to 2 and 3D.
I also realise that I am not seeing confirmation dialogs when I request
a logout. It simply logs out immediately.

I initially saw the problem using Unity-2d. If I use 3d then I still do not
see the dialog, but there is no 30 second delay before starting the shutdown.
Whether using 2d or 3d if I click the power button on the PC then the dialog
appears and when I select shutdown it shuts
