I'm glad someone still cares about this bug.
Since I don't have another keyboard, I didn't try another keyboard. The
laptop-keyboard still works out-of-the-box, the usb keyboard still has
issues.
The problems with the usb-keyboard appear to be associated with the usage of
graphic effects.

did you try another keyboard? Sounds like a hardware issue to me. Also
is that still an issue in Precise beta?
